Yash Raj Films have requested the management of Amber theatre in Jaamnagar to pull off ‘Fanaa’ after a young man Pravin Joshi made a self immolation bid in the theatre’s toilet yesterday. Apparently he had been protesting against Aamir Khan’s views on the Narmada issue, though it defies reason as to why he made the attempt after watching the film. Ambar was the only theatre showing ‘Fanaa’ in Gujarat and after the request by Yashraj Films, theatre owner Vimal Madam, decided to pull out the film which had been running to houseful shows.

In another related incident, four people were arrested for ‘illegally’ showing ‘Fanaa’ in a club in Rajkot. It has been reported that hundreds of people had been congregating to watch the film and it was due to the huge numbers that police got the hint. Kunal Kohli’s blockbuster seems to be arousing extreme reactions from people in Gujarat. There’s no dearth of people who wish to see the film while there are still others who can go to any length to oppose it.
